Fishing Update & Bear Baiting

We were a fairly small Camp this week.  The weather was quite cool again, with highs around 60.  Steve and I fished TWICE on Sunday!  We went out fairly early in the a.m. and got some walleye (Steve caught a northern, too).  Then we went to jerk some perch in the evening and didn’t catch a thing:(  We’ll have to consult some perch folks on technique.  We saw some nice perch this week so it must be something we’re doing wrong.  Steve fished a couple of other times this week:  once with our group of three from Kansas (Allen, Randy and Bernie…we miss you guys already) and again with Larry.  Everyone did great on walleye!  2nd and 5th Lakes are still holding some hot spots.

While Steve fished with Larry, I took Ruthie to Kenora.  We shopped, had lunch, and got pedicures.  I am now sporting bright blue toes:)  Larry and Ruthie leave us tomorrow after FIVE WEEKS!  I miss them already and they’re still here.

Steve has begun bear baiting.  He has a couple of trail cameras posted to give him an idea of what’s going on out there.  Last year we had cameras that used traditional film.  We’d have to wait until we went to Dryden to get the roll developed.  Often we’d get 1-2 “real” photos and a bunch of junk pictures.  This year we’re using digital cameras–no more delayed gratification!  Here are some of our findings:

Time to go do some “real” work.  We have a big week starting tomorrow.
