Sounds of Summer

In the opening blog of the season I wrote about the sound of silence and stillness of that is present in April and early May. Well, into June we go and that has been replaced by the sounds of summer! In the evenings one can hear the frogs, and the motors of the boats coming in the for the night. In the morning, one can hear the wailing of the loons and Eagleman's good-morning call. During the afternoons its the lawnmowers and a variety of bird chirps (thanks Jay for telling me about the Merlin app to identify them!) While our guests talk about the quiet out on the water and the islands, back at camp Colin learned very quickly that the fish house (or fish shack as his Newfoundland lingo calls it) has got a sound of its own. Between the electric fillet knives and ice maching humming, the music or a hockey game in the background, and some new fish stories being shared, June is here and the sweet sounds of summer has come with it. Turn volume up on this to get a glimpse:

Fish - I know you want to see some of them. Its one of those times where we just got so many pics to share that I can't tell all the stories that go with them (guess you'll just have to join us in the fish house sometime for that)

Chris a.k.a. "the Pizza Guy" made everyone pizzas from scratch for the first potluck of the season! Big Dog did good as they were a hit!

This poor new prop was in the water less than 2 days - Scrapdaddy decided to get some autographs on it:

As you can see, the leaderboard keeps changing- and many times within the same week! Its been a lot of action these first three weeks of fishing and so many personal bests. Above all, folks are having fun and enjoying the beauty of being up here even when there is a slower fishing day. Its actually been beautiful 70's weather almost every day since the last blog. But we get those fishermen that want some wind and clouds and cooler temps too. With no rain for three weeks, we do need some to keep water levels at the comfortable level its been. Water temps right now are in the low to mid 60 degree range. Fishing has overall been shallow thus far.

And to wrap it up, a sunset view from the Eagle's Nest (thanks for sharing Paul)

Til the next one everyone, enjoy those sounds of summer!

Even though Jon tried to bounce me off the boat on those windy days we had a great time! We made it home and I am ready to come back. Thanks for another fun adventure! Have a great season! The Walker's Jon and Jean
